About

As a photographer, I create work to give people a different perspective of emotions using symbols, lighting, and color. Typically, my work is done in a studio setting using a variety of analog and digital photography. I make my art from both personal experience in my emotions combined with how I see people's lives and body language through color. My work helps me communicate and spread meaning creatively. My project “What is your flower”, was inspired by my upbringing in a large family. Every one of us has our own unique personalities which play a role in the way we grow. Just like a flower, some are delicate and may be damaged, and others are resilient and can grow anywhere.

Since she was born, 8 months is the longest McKayla has lived in one place. This lifestyle has inspired her spontaneous nature. Her parents raised her to be adventurous and always supported her in what she wanted to do in life. She discovered her love for photography when attending Montana State University for Film. In the first semester of her film degree, the mandatory photography class drew her into the photography world and since then, she has not looked back. Photography provides McKayla with a way to express her emotions, thoughts, and allow her to uniquely create meaning.
